Description
Portrait of the 18-19th century German philosopher. A colourful eccentric figure who is often treated as just being a bridge between Kant and Hegel. I am not sure how substantial this description is, but I have found Fichte to be quite and interesting figure to read up on both his history and controversy in his day and his philosophical views, which despite its limitations still was reflective of a person who valued freedom and education

Great portrait! I put my daughter into Fichte's choir, the Singakademie zu Berlin (founded in 1793, the oldest existing mixed choir and from it's inception non-denominational and open to ppl of all faiths, freethinkers and atheists). Mendelsson ran it for many years and had his whole extended family sing there, Fichte sang Tenor, Bismarck later base and still later my daughter soprano,
